A senior lecturer in Sociology, Karen Gregory looks at subjects including digital labour, gender and technology, the sharing economy and supply chains. On this Friday tour we will focus on ‘Life and Labour on Demand’, using Céline Condorelli’s exhibition as a springboard into a discussion about contemporary work. Following the artist’s lead, we will first think about how you can try to make hidden aspects of labour visible. Then, we think about how different infrastructures redistribute risk to workers. Lastly, we will think about how this process has led to new work-imaginaries within the digital economy, turning to examples such as The Workers’ Observatory and STUC in Edinburgh.
