TRG Student Creative Club | Postcard Making
Wednesday 11 November, 5.30pm
Join us for a post card making session inspired by the exhibition The Rupture: No condition is permanent.
Get creative, explore the exhibition, and help shape the student engagement programme at TRG!
Following our creative consultation in September, Student Ideas Exchange, you told us you wanted more opportunities to spend time at TRG, make things, respond to exhibitions, meet other students, and have more of a say in what happens here.
So, we’re starting TRG Student Creative Club - a free monthly programme shaped by students, for students.
Join us for our first session, where we’ll create postcards in response to the current exhibition and share ideas for what we’d like to do together next.
Join us at Talbot Rice Gallery for the first in a new series of monthly sessions for students from Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) and the University of Edinburgh.
Taking place on the third Wednesday of each month during the exhibition, TRG Student Sessions will offer a relaxed space to connect with art, experiment with creative ideas, meet other students and shape what happens at the gallery.
For our first session: Postcard Making
This idea came up during our last event. Being a student can sometimes mean living far away from family and friends, and finding ways to stay connected with the people we miss.
Inspired by The Rupture and its exploration of separation, connection and the things that divide or bring us together, we’ll create our own postcards in response to the exhibition and your suggestion. Postcards can be a simple but meaningful way to reach out to loved ones.
Through images, words, drawing or collage, you’ll have the chance to make a postcard that reflects your own experiences, memories or connections. There’s no right or wrong way to respond, and no previous art experience is needed - just come along and get creative!
What happens next is up to you!
This programme is designed to grow with you. At the end of the session, you’ll have the opportunity to suggest ideas and vote on what you’d like to do at the next gathering.
From creative workshops and artist conversations to film screenings, discussions and social activities, the possibilities are open. There will also be opportunities for students to propose and lead their own sessions, with support from the TRG team.
Come along, get creative, share your ideas and help shape a engagement programme that reflects what you want from your gallery.
