'IRVING BERLIN', 2017 (at blip blip blip, Leeds)

Alaya Ang is a visual artist, curator and workshop facilitator based in Glasgow. Their practice is activated through performance and writing, realised through expressions of collaboration and community that centre anti-racist, feminist and ecological values.

Alaya graduated from Sculpture and Environmental Art, Glasgow School of Art (2016), their recent exhibition, Plotting (Against) The Garden, with Hussein Mitha, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (2021); Studio Projects Collaborative Residency, Market Gallery, Glasgow (2021) looks at emancipatory practices relating to gardening, cultivating a space for botanics and politics to be in cahoots. Alaya's curatorial work is focused on radical creative practices through the lenses of queer theory, black feminist thought and diasporic perspectives.
